Kaylee,

Also if you live near any pregnancy support centers try to hook up with them. Where I live there are two called Life Choices. They have parenting classes, childbirth education and I teach breastfeeding classes at the ones that are by my house. They also have a boutique and you earn points for attending classes and such. You can then use your points to "purchase" from the boutique. Definitely get in touch with WIC also. WIC has breastfeeding support people on staff that can help you.

Kaylee, (if I can comment here without it just being a question for Judy!) I strongly recommend WIC. And start on it now while you are pregnant. You can get really healthy food to eat, and great advice, too, on nutrition and caring for your baby.
And congratulations on that sweet little life you have growing!

Hi Kaylee, Anyone can be a mom and anyone can be a good mom - it doesn't take money! There are lots of great moms who don't have jobs and are single. You have some time to figure things out before the baby comes - so decide if you are going to work or if you are going to stay with family or if you will be in WIC or some other kind of assistance program for moms. With WIC, lots of moms know that they can get free baby formula, but what they don't know is that if you are breastfeeding, they give you more free food to take care of yourself so that you can give your baby your breastmilk. You will be a great mom! -- Judy

Hi Kaylee, Congrats on your pregnancy! I absolutely would recommend that you breastfeed your child. It is the best thing that you can do for yourself and your baby - nutritionally, emotionally and physically! And it is much less expensive than formula - so you will not only be doing a great thing for your baby and yourself - you will save $$ too! --Judy
