Ameda Purely Yours BreastpumpWe are thrilled to be kicking off our Blogiversary Celebration with a breastpump from Ameda! The Ameda breast pump is our favorite and the only one that we carry in our boutique. Ameda is a great company to work with – they care about moms, they employ lactation consultants to help moms with questions and to help out stores like me! So you might wonder – beside Ameda being such a great company – Why do we like the Ameda pump?

The Purely Yours Breast Pump is the only portable double breast pump that combines the legacy of hospital-proven technology with mom-friendly features. It’s ideal for moms working full-time or for anyone who wants a quick, easy and effective breast pumping experience.

  • The Purely Yours does not require inspection of tubing or a six step cleaning process for milk/moisture. No worries about mold growing in tubing or alcohol vapors from cleaning. There is no air exchange between the tubing and expressed milk. The Purely Yours has a diaphragm barrier that protects baby’s milk. This FDA Cleared Viral Barrier does not require inspection or cleaning of tubing. There are only four parts to wash. This barrier also keeps outside air out of baby’s milk that may contain pollutants, allergens and smoke.
  • The Purely Yours is Piston-driven – for comfortable and efficient pumping. This is the most recommended form of breast pump technology!
  • The Purely Yours is Compact and lightweight – weighs only 1 pound.
  • The Purely Yours has individually adjustable cycle and suction controls — you create a pumping experience most comfortable and effective for you.
  • The Purely Yours saves you time – its unique design prevents milk and moisture from entering tubing, so there’s no need to clean pump tubing!
  • The Purely Yours kit is the same as the kit for all Ameda Products – no extra expense for extra parts and no troubles with reconfiguring. Switching from dual to single pumping does not require levers or plugs.
  • Use it anywhere! Operates using 3 power sources – AC adapter, AA batteries or car adapter.
  • The Purely Yours is appropriate for mother’s who are returning to work full time, as well as for occasional pumping needs.
  • All of the components and accessories for this pump are BPA Free! So you can be assured that the milk you are working so hard to pump for you baby is safe for him to drink!
  • It’s AFFORDABLE! With four models to choose from – any mom can afford this pump!

17077 - red suit with Carry AllThe Ameda Purely Your Breastpump comes in four different models. All models contain a base pump and the patented Ameda Dual Hygenikit accessory package which contains all of the parts/pieces that you need to get started pumping. And when you get your pump from our Boutique Store, you also get a copy of our great Pumping and Working Tips article which will get you started on your journey with breastpumping! Our favorite model (and our best-selling one!) is the Purely Yours Breastpump with Carry All Tote. It has the perfect amount of accessories whiile still maintaining a very affordable price – so that you can get everything you need with your pump (carrying case, extra bottles, milk storage case, etc) and sill have room left in your budget for some other things that you might “want” or “need”.

I had an ameda pump for 6 yrs before it died on me so now I am left pumpless I would love to win since I am 19 weeks pregnant with no money to buy a new pump. I have pumped with all my other children my first 3 I pumped & breastfed for 1 year each child. I think it is really important to have a good pump or it’s hard to be succesful.
    Thanks for the chance!

  3. Jess says:

I LOVE that you tipped in there to pump on one side while breastfeeding the other! I did this every morning & built up a nice stash of expressed milk.

I think the tip that would help me most is getting a hands free device!

  7. Amber says:

I like this tip from the Working and Breastfeeding Tips page- “Bring in a photo of your child and maybe even one of their outfits or a recording of their voice. These will help your milk to let-down and will give you more milk per pumping session.”

My breast pump history: Money is really tight right now so all we could afford is a manual pump. It doesn’t work that well (i have a really hard time expressing more then an ounce from each breast) and takes FOREVER. Not to mention that the suction is inconsistent and uncomfortable. But i use it anyway because i need a pump and we just don’t have the several hundred dollars that an electric pump costs. I would love to win this pump so i could get rid of the manual pump and have a pump that actually works!

  10. Jenna says:

An Ameda breastpump would be an amazing item to get, even more amazing, it would be absolutely free! My second child is due in 2 weeks. Our current pump isn’t nearly as nice and is probably the reason I didn’t nurse for as long as I’d hoped to with my first since I became frustrated at work. Maybe my second child could get the benefits my first did not. That would be amazing!

I have a Medela breast pump that I used with my first born. I never felt like it had the power to pump what I needed for the baby. I would love to be able to pump more with the second baby.

  13. I am a new breastfeeding Mom. This is my third baby, but I did not breastfeed the first two. This is my first experience.

  14. I love this pump and used it with my daughter. I would love to have one to give to a friend!

I have a PISA that is a PITA. I had to start pumping when we kept passing thrush back & forth. Now I pump @ work and during nursing strikes. It is thrilling to have a stash of milk available so I can have some occasional free time (during which I usually just wish I was back with baby)

I didn’t know to cool the m ilk in the fridge prior to freezing it. Will change my routine now. Thanks!

  18. jami says:

I was not able to breastfeed my first baby. I was young and scared and gave up easily. NOW, I am a changed woman!!!! I have done my research and feel empowered to feed this next baby! I can’t imagine NOT doing it now! I would love to have a pump to help! Thanks for the giveaway!

  19. erin says:

I am pregnant with my first biological baby right now and would love to have this because I don’t have a pump yet!

  20. erin says:

I learned that milk can be stored at room temp for 5-10 hrs. That’s way longer than I would’ve thought!

  21. Elita says:

I pumped for about 7 months when I returned to work. I have used every pump imaginable and my favorite, hands down, was the PY. Pumping sucks (hehehe) so if you’re going to do it, you need to be using a quality pump that is going to maintain your milk supply.

  23. Elita says:

I think your best tip in the pumping article is to keep pumping for a full 15 minutes, even if you’ve stopped getting any milk because the nipple stimulation will help you make more milk.

  24. Melissa Calvanelli says:

I am currently expecting my 3rd child and my poor breastpump has been through about 3 years total of pumping. My husband promised me that when we had #3 I could get a knew one, but money is tight right now. I pumped for both of my boys for about 18 months each and felt that it was the second best thing I could do for them (1st would have been to stay home and feed direct, but I have to work – DH is a stay at home dad).

  25. I’m going to be a new mommy soon and I would love to have this pump! I’ve hear and read wonderful things, which I could speak about first hand if I win. I love to use Twitter, FB & Myspace and most of my friends are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

I have the Medela Harmony Breast Pump. It was a good pump other than the fact that I got hand cramps from pumping all the time!! I would love to have this pump and give my hands a rest :)
    Thanks for the chance!!

  27. Kelsey says:

I learned from the article that “You have the most milk in the morning, so if you can pump then, you will probably get the most output”
I never knew this before. Thanks for the tip

  31. Alanna says:

All the tips are very useful to me, since I am brand new to this, but this is the tip that stood out most to me right now:

Use a newborn, slow-flow nipple on your baby’s bottle. Milk is much easier to drink from a bottle than it is from a breast, and you don’t want your baby to develop a preference for the bottle. Also, it is very easy to over-feed a breast-fed baby with a bottle since the milk comes out so much more quickly. Using a newborn nipple will make the milk come out slower so that your caregiver doesn’t accidentally give your baby more milk that they need.

  39. Nicole says:

I am actually pregnant right now with my first child. I plan on breastfeeding, and also pumping. Alot of people ask me why I want to pump if I am going to be breastfeeding, and I actually have a few answers to this!

    1) I want to pump so that my husband can be apart of the feeding experience. Also, I want to be able to leave the house now and then without having to worry about baby feeding time.

    2) My SIL needs breastmilk for her little one, and I want to be able to help supply her

    3) I would like to join the milk exchange in my local area to supply milk to any mom who needs it!!

I currently do not have any breast pumps, as I am not due till Jan 2010, but I cannot afford anything really nice. I can only afford a bottom of the line pump, which is why I would love so much to win this one!!
