Today’s blogiversary post is all about Bebe Au Lait. In case you don’t already know, Bebe Au Lait is the most well-know manufacturer of nursing covers. They have a unique, patented design to their covers which includes a stiff rim on the cover. This allows you to maintain eye contact with your baby while nursing. It also keeps the cover from sitting directly against your baby’s face – something most babies don’t like very much!
Bebe Au Lait was originally called Hooter Hiders when they first opened their business. They still manufacture nursing covers under both names as their are moms who have a preference for one or the other. Until recently, they used to make the same style covers under each name, so the covers were exactly the same, but the name on the tag differed. Now, they make different prints and styles of covers under the two different labels. The newest Hooter Hiders designs have a ruffle or pocket added to them for added flair and/or functionality.
In addition to nursing covers, over the last few years, Bebe Au Lait has also started to manufacture lots of accessories for your baby – from burb cloths to bibs to hooded towels – all in the same fantastic prints that the nursing covers come in. These sets make great baby shower gifts!
We have carried the Bebe Au Lait and Hooter Hiders covers and burp cloths in our Boutique Store since we first opened and we love them!! We hadn’t had a chance to stock up on some of the new styles with the ruffle or pocket yet, so Bebe Au Lait offered to send us one to try out. This cover is gorgeous! The colors are so vibrant and the ruffle just gives it an added flair!! I love the bold prints. Using a nursing cover isn’t about hiding the fact that you are breastfeeding – it’s just about giving moms who would like it – a little bit of privacy and discretion. So don’t hide the fact that you are breastfeeding – put on one of these bold prints and shout it out to the world!! “I’m breastfeeding my baby here!!”
Well, the great folks at Bebe Au Lait have offered to give one lucky Mommy News & Views reader a nursing cover in your choice of color or style!!

How Do I Nurse In Public Discreetly?

You’re out with your family eating dinner in a restaurant, when suddenly your baby decides he is hungry too! You’re a bit uncomfortable nursing in public, but really there is no need to panic!
Nursing covers can prevent that uncomfortable feeling that some get with nursing in public. There is no need to nurse in a dressing room or the dreaded public restroom.
When out and about a nursing cover allows you to nurse in public without anyone even noticing what is going on under there. Most people will just assume you have a sleeping baby under the cover. You can even walk around like this without the fear of suddenly being exposed. Unlike a blanket, the nursing cover is there securely around your neck and will not fall off.
There is a nursing cover that will suit anyone’s style and personality. What to do with the nursing cover while you are not nursing? Drap it over a carseat or stroller as an added cover from wind and sun.
